Living Simply and Naturally

I’m going to be hosting an event all about making non-toxic choices. I’m not an expert, but lots of people ask me where to begin with having a greener home life. So I figure I’d put together a little information session.

Here are the details:

Tuesday, June 28th
3PM – 5PM
Jersey City, NJ
Contact me for directions
RSVP required
Admission is free. Space is limited.

You know there are greener options out there, but where do you start? This low-key session – taught by  non-toxic product champion and professional comedian Annie Schiffmann – lays out simple solutions for a chemical- free home.

Stop colds before they start, de-stress, and clean your home safely and effectively.

Great for parents!

Here’s a recipe for a bug spray that I got from the wonderful Nancy Weber. It makes me look forward to summer nights on my mom’s deck down the shore. Can’t wait for summer!

Buzz Off Insect Repellent Spray
Need to get:
1. Cobalt Blue Bottles – best prices are specialtybottle.com.
You will need 1 ounce bottles with atomizer for traveling, walking, etc.  2 or 4 ounce bottles with atomizer for home/office/car.  For animals in heavily infested areas purchase the Cobalt Blue Boston Round Glass Bottle 1/2 oz w/ Dropper.
*Cats need a much more diluted version of just Purification and Lavender.

2. Distilled water is best. (If you can’t for some reason just make sure no chlorine, fluoride, etc.)

3. From Young Living: Purification, Lavender (St. Marie’s Lavender may be better for this purpose, however they are both effective) and Peppermint.

4. For 1 ounce spray bottle:
2 drops Peppermint
2 drops Lavender
4 drops Purification
Top it off with water.

Simply double the recipe for 2 ounces, and so forth.

Quick thing I read in this month’s Real Simple (when you sit down and nurse five times a day you get lots of reading done). Peppermint tea helps with headaches. Especially those headaches that are combined with upset stomach.
According to the director of the Manhattan Center for Headache and Neurology, Audrey L. Halpern “peppermint may reduce spasms in the gastrointestinal tract.” When the spasms are reduced, so are the headache symptoms. Also, “neurochemical changes in the brain brought on by headaches can also affect the part of the brain that stimulates nausea.”
What is good for nausea? Peppermint!

Make a peppermint tea by placing one drop of peppermint essential oil in boiling water.

Just read in Whole Living magazine that probiotics can help to fight belly fat. Sweet! Here’s what they had to say about it:

Good gut bacteria helps maintain weight. Researchers in Finland followed pregnant women to term and up to a year after giving birth. One group received a daily probiotic supplement: the others got dietary counseling or counseling and a placebo. One year after delivering their babies, the probiotic poppers had the least body and belly fat. – Elizabeth Devita-Raeburn

Good enough for me! If you want to try a Probiotic, I recommend Life 5 from Young Living. Read info about it then contact me and I’ll help you place your order!

Nope. It’s not. But I understand that it’s a concern. So, here’s a great video that I found that voices concerns about network marketing companies (like Mary Kay, Tupperware, and Avon).

Enjoy!
